IITs have seen an increase of 291 seats, compared to last year. The admission schedule was launched by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2018 (josaa.nic.in). A total of 11,279 seats will be available across IITs. Supernumerary seats will be created to accommodate foreign candidates along with defence service candidates (maximum two DS candidates per IIT) who qualify JEE (Advanced) 2018. This year, 800 supernumerary seats have been created for female candidates in IITs to improve gender balance. The seats cannot exceed 10%.
JEE (Advanced) 2018 results will be announced on June 10, and on June 15, candidates can register and fill choices for academic programmes. On June 19, mock seat allocation will take place based on choices filled in by candidates.
On June 24, mock seat allocation 2 will be displayed. On June 25, candidate registration and choice-filling for academic programmes under JoSAA ends. On June 26, reconciliation of data, seat allocation, verification and validation will take place and on June 27, seat allocation of round 1 will take place.
From June 28-July 2, documents will be verified and seats will be accepted by reporting at various centres. On July 3, seats filled and vacant will be displayed. There will be seven rounds.
